Southern California Fires, October 25-26, 2003

For info on the 2007 San Diego County wildfires (Witch Fire, etc), see this entry

These photos aren't dramatic fire photos, but they give you an idea of how large an area that is affected by the fires and how thick the smoke is throughout the county.

If you want to see "artistic" shots of what downtown San Diego looks like, check out Turtle's pictures.

These pictures are from the Scripps Ranch Civic Association's site. Scripps Ranch, a nice suburban neighborhood on the northeast side of the city lost at least 150 homes, more than any other area so fa.r

You can make a donation to the local San Diego Red Cross. Right now, they're hosting a large number of displaced people and pets in shelters throughout the area.
  • Pictures taken on Saturday in La Verne and Claremont, east of Los Angeles.
  • Pictures taken Sunday in San Diego, mostly along the I-5 corridor and near my apartment dowtown.
  • Pictures taken on Monday near my apartment (air quality is terrible...time to get caught up on my Netflix).
  • This map gives you an idea of how large an area is affected by the fires. (Forgive my crude annotations).
